"THE ENERGY DEBATE: WHAT WILL CAP & TRADE ACCOMPLISH?™"
At perhaps the most critical juncture in the history of Climate Change and Energy-related legislation in the history of the United State of America, "The Energy Debate: What Will Cap & Trade Accomplish?™" --- a special set of two one-hour programs --- addresses the nation’s need to honestly explore the real impacts of pending Cap & Trade legislation. Cap & Trade legislation has been passed by the U.S. House of Representatives (the American Clean Energy & Security Act) and is awaiting consideration by the U.S. Senate. Once a bill is passed in the Senate, it will go to a Conference Committee and then, any resulting changes will need the approval of both chambers.
Without question, this legislation will change the landscape of the Energy Industry and the U.S. Economy for the next century. Only a reasoned and informed debate will result in the best possible outcome for the American people. If allowed to be decided behind the scenes, Americans and the world could suffer for decades --- at great economic and environmental costs.
This television series meets an immediate need due to (a) the absence of in-depth analyses of the impacts of Cap & Trade proposals and (b) the need to further educate legislators and political activists about the subject. The programs are nonpartisan and educational in nature. Their focus will be in three areas:
- Climate Change Emissions --- What affects will different energy policies have on the Earth?
- The Economy --- How do different policies truly impact saving and/or creating jobs?
- Energy Independence --- What are the most efficacious ways for the U.S. to become Energy Independent and, hence, increase the nation’s national security?
Nationally-prominent guests will includes those from the political realm, scientific organizations, energy businesses, elected and other public officials, environmentalists, consumers, the media, trade and labor associations, and other entities involved in this debate.
Invitations will be extended to U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (both of whom already have personally made interview commitments to Aaron Harber, the program’s host) as well as other key Senators, Representatives, and Administration officials along with key environmental, economic, and energy representatives at the highest levels. Invitations will be sent to prospective guests such as Worldwatch Institute President Chris Flavin, energy expert and author Robert Hefner, EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson, Sierra Club Executive Director Carl Pope, and UN Foundation President Tim Wirth. Many of these people already have been Aaron’s guests and Aaron’s immediate access to these and others is unparalleled.
