AARON'S LAST-MINUTE RACE ENTRY I woke up and knew I wasn't much better because I could barely move. Somehow, I got Holly to school without wincing too much but I knew she could tell something was amiss. I wasn't my usual bouncy self. I had a liquid breakfast and didn't eat until the early afternoon. Feeling poorly wasn't my idea of a good weight-loss program but it seemed to be working. Although I took care of e-mail, some bills, and several phone calls, I spent most of the day taking ultra-hot baths and reading the piles of newspapers I needed to go through (or, alternatively, throw out) as well as taking care of the dogs and doing the dishes. I also watched the upcoming TV show via the Website (www.HarberTV.com). My sister, Leah, came over and was very helpful with getting the house in decent shape as well as taking care of the dogs. We didn't get any office work done, however, and she was disappointed, especially given her organizational skills. Exercise was totally out of the question. I began to realize I may have to cancel my trip as well as skip the Race. Ah, the vicissitudes of age! I told Leah I was ready to start drinking and she took me -- a teetotaler -- seriously and started discussing the evils of the bottle. I explained that, even if I did grab a drink or two, it didn't mean I would be a lush on a daily basis for the rest of my life. Given my level of discomfort, however, the concept was intriguing. She frowned. I took it easy the rest of the day, did some work, and finished my supply of ibuprofen. Perhaps it was time to move on to something stronger? I was glad the Race didn't do any drug testing! Note: To enter in the Bolder Boulder and run with Aaron, go to www.BolderBoulder.com. NEXT: Day 17 -- To Fly Or Not To Fly?
