Dr. Samuel Gandy, the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Professor of Alzheimer’s Disease Research and the Director of the NFL Neurological Care Center as well as one of the world’s experts on the effects of head trauma, explains in-depth what CTE (chronic traumatic encephalopathy) is.  During the discussion, the show highlights the severe impacts of “hits” with video examples from several different football games.  Dr. Gandy also discusses how new technology and innovations which will provide paths to test for CTE and diagnose it while a person is alive as opposed to the current status which limits accurate diagnoses to only post-mortem opportunities.
