"The Aaron Harber Show" SPECIAL SHOW TACKLES NEW ANTI-TERRORISM BILL

GUESTS ON COLORADO PUBLIC TELEVISION KBDI/TV-12 DEBATE FIGHT AGAINST TERRORISM VERSUS LOSS OF CIVIL RIGHTS

NEW U.S. ATTORNEY FORCEFULLY DEFENDS FEDERAL LEGISLATION

Denver, CO - With a stellar line-up of guests, Colorado Public Television KBDI/TV-12's public affairs program, "The Aaron Harber Show," tackles key provisions of the new federal Anti-Terrorism Bill just passed by the U.S. Congress and signed into law by President George W. Bush.

The program is part of a special public service undertaking to address issues related to the Attack On America and the War the United States is fighting in Afghanistan and around the globe. Host Aaron Harber explained, "One of our goals is to present new faces and voices - ones you don't see and hear in the Media every day - and provide a forum for discussions which include criticisms of our government." The Colorado Public Television KBDI/TV-12 began this effort with two "live" call-in shows hosted by Harber shortly after the September 11th Attack. Some of the issues debated by the group in the upcoming program include...

-Creation of nationwide search warrants and broader wiretap provisions.
-"Sneak and peek" searches & seizures (i.e., without informing the target).
-Detention of suspects for long periods of time without filing charges.
-Forced disclosure of personal information - including medical records.
-The lack of "sunset" provisions and timely congressional review.

Harber commented, "In the whirlwind of emotion following the Attack, this legislation was passed without the kind of thoughtful debate and reasonable negotiation one normally would expect. Are some of these provisions 'right' for America and our Constitution? These are the questions we discuss."

Joining Harber are U.S. Attorney John Suthers, Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter, famed criminal defense attorney David Lane, and Mark Silverstein, the Colorado Director of the Legal Division of the American Civil Liberties Union.

The program is scheduled for broadcast on Thursday evening, November 8th, at 10:00 pm, and on Sunday afternoon, November 11th, at 2:00 pm.

"The Aaron Harber Show" is broadcast in many Colorado communities (including Denver as well as Boulder, Broomfield, Colorado Springs, Fort Collins, Greeley, and Pueblo, among others) on Thursday evenings at 10:00 pm and on Sunday afternoons at 2:00 pm.

Harber also is a columnist for "The Colorado Statesman" -- Colorado's most prominent political publication. He has been a resident of the State for over three decades and lives in Erie.
